Roy Wilkins said somewhere that the most he could ever hope to be was a permanent recovering sexist. Is “permanent recovering racists” the most we can ever be?
Privilege (Yvonne Rainer, 1990)
The most remarkable thing was the silence that emanated from friends and family regarding the details of my single middleage. When I was younger, my sex life had been the object of all kinds of questioning, from prurient curiosity to solicitous concern. Now that I did not appear to be looking for a man, the state of my desires seemed of no interest to anyone.

whadup asked: hey! how are you doing? as you have a deep love for cinema i wanted to ask you something. when you want to read about movies, where do you go on the internet? i usually read reviews on sites like the new yorker, the hollywood review, metacritic or other stuff like that but as far as webzine or good blogs i only know some that write in italian so i was wondering if there are any in english that you daily/weekly check out and would recommend. thanks :)
I’m doing well, thank you for asking! There are a few website I check out when I want to read about movies (on a daily/weekly basis), the primary ones being Slant Magazine and their House Next Door, Indiewire and their Playlist, and Film.com perhaps. Strictly Film School is also a good reference, as well as Film School Rejects, Not Coming to a Theater Near You, and Senses of Cinema (for more academic type writing). Hope this helps!
